120 Hours of Community Service - Workshop and Public Space Analysis

We conducted a mapping study of four public spaces in Sector 2, resulting in urban assessment reports, moodboards, and synthesis sheets. The urban assessment reports identify local issues and dysfunctional elements within these public spaces, while the moodboards showcase best practices from other cities. The synthesis sheets offer general recommendations for the spatial typologies in the analyzed areas. The documents also include feedback from the local communities, gathered through consultations and surveys.

This initiative is a collaboration between the Order of Architects of Romania (Bucharest Branch), the Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism, the Romanian Association of Landscape Architects (Bucharest Branch), the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest, the Faculty of Horticulture (Department of Landscape Architecture), the Faculty of Political Science (National University of Political Studies and Public Administration), AMAIS, BAZA, and studio BASAR, in partnership with the City Hall of Sector 2, as part of the 2021 Bucharest Architecture Annual.

Results:

  • 4 public consultations with the community in the targeted public spaces.
  • 4 sets of analysis sheets created by a multidisciplinary team.
  • A website compiling all the mentioned materials.
